What is iot or what is internet of things?

Internet of things or IOT is set of devices/objects connected over internet. The IOT devices collets the data from sensors and can be controlled over the internet. These days due to wireless technology , a device can have Internet as device can have sensors so it can collect data and send to the other server which is connected to device over internet. This enables iot devices to collect and send data without human interventions. The
collected data helps in taking decisions.

Internet of  things are composed of 2 parts.
Internet: This is existing network which provides global connectivity of various machines over  TCP/IP protocol.  Each entity in internet is assigned an ip address. IP Address is an address of a machine via which a machine is identified in global network.  There are  2 types of ip address used on internet , ipv4 and ipv6. IPv6 is bigger is in terms of address length. So it can represent  very large number of machines as compared to IPv4. With iot , the use of ipv6 is very critical. An application can be represented via a TCP port over IP.

Things: In IOT or internet of things , a thing is device which have ip connectivity with sensors. This can be a home appliances in home.

IOT applications or Internet of things examples.

There can be several IOT examples. Temperature control in house, a devices collect the temperature and you can monitor it on mobile aap. Based on data you can instruct heating device to make temperature down or up. Pollution Alert System: In this IOT devices can be installed to the road junctions and pollution level data can be send to traffic control department. Now the department can announces in new papers to avoid routes.
